Govt stay adding to nation's burden: Nawaz

on Friday, July 27, 2012

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-N President Nawaz Sharif Thursday said the incumbent government has become a burden that is only getting heavier and heavier on the nation with every passing day. Speaking on the occasion of Multan's former nazims' joining of the PML-N here at Raiwind, Nawaz Sharif said stiff resistance will be put up if elections were subjected to an unnecessary delay by the government.

"The talks about extending the tenure of the parliament are self-betraying," he remarked, adding the nation wanted a democratic change and every passing day with the present government in place was only adding to the burden of the people.

He said only free and transparent elections constituted a real solution to the country's problems. The rulers cannot prolong their stay through a pretext and pretence, he ruled out.
